Seniors Vander Blue of Madison Memorial and Jordan Mach of Antigo along with sophomore Jean-Pierre Tokoto of Menomonee Falls are unanimous selections for the 2010 Division 1 WBCA All-State team.
Blue is making his second straight appearance on the team after leading Madison Memorial back to the state tournament for the seventh consecutive year. The Marquette recruit averaged a team-best 17.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Mach had a monster senior season, leading Antigo to the state tournament for the first time since 1995 by averaging a whopping 29.4 ppg. The UW-Parkside recruit shot 57 percent from the floor, 46 percent from three-point range and 73 percent from the line. He had made 90 three-point shots through 24 games for the Red Robins.
Tokoto led Menomonee Falls to the Greater Metro Conference title and emerged as one of the most sought after recruits in the state. The athletic and versatile 6-6 wing player has received scholarship offers as a sophomore from the likes of Duke, Kansas, Marquette and Wisconsin, among others.
The rest of the division 1 team consisted of Elgin Cook, Milwaukee Hamilton; Paul Jesperson, Merrill; Marquis Mason, Madison East; Ben Mills, Arrowhead; Brandon Pritzl, De Pere; Chip Rank, Cedarburg; and Jake Schalow, Kaukauna.
Mason led Madison East to a share of the Big Eight Conference championship with Madison Memorial. The ultra-athletic forward and University of Wisconsin football recruit was a four-year starter for the Purgolders and he averaged 18.6 ppg for a team that went 20-4.
Rank scored 614 points in 24 games for an average of 25.6 ppg. A four-year varsity starter and Northern Iowa recruit, Rank scored 47 points in a regional semifinal victory over North Shore Conference rival Homestead.
Schalow was named Player of the Year in the Fox Valley Association along with Taylor Cameron of Oshkosh North and Kevin Levandoski of Appleton West after leading the Ghosts to the league championship by averaging a league-best 23.6 ppg. The son of Kaukauna coach, Mike Schalow, Jack Schalow will play college basketball at Bemidji State in Minnesota.
Mills led Arrowhead to the state tournament for the third time in school history by averaging a team-high 17.2 ppg. The Boise State recruit possesses outstanding size (7-0), length and skill while also running the court like a wing guard.
Pritzl led De Pere to an unbeaten conference record in the Fox River Classic Conference. The Hillsdale College recruit averaged 17.0 ppg while also providing outstanding senior leadership for the Redbirds.
Cook is the top player on a team loaded with young stars as the Iowa State recruit leads Milwaukee Hamilton in scoring at 15.8 ppg. One of the state’s elite athletes, Cook is especially effective on the boards and in transition.
Jesperson is one of the state’s top three-point shooters and he led Merrill in scoring at 20.5 ppg. An extremely unselfish player who figures to be among the most recruited players in the state in the class of 2011, Jesperson currently has scholarship offers from 10 different NCAA Division I schools, including Green Bay and Milwaukee.
