Senior Kyle Kelm of Randolph is the lone unanimous selection for the 2010 Division 4 WBCA All-State team.
A 6-foot-10 forward who signed a national letter of intent to play college basketball at NCAA Division I Milwaukee last November, Kelm is a highly skilled forward who can make shots from beyond the three-point arc or go inside and use his size and skill to score over small defenders. He averaged a team-best 19.5 ppg for a team that enters the state title game today with a 28-0 record.
The rest of the division 4 team consisted of Curtis Allbaugh, North Crawford; Brad Brooks, Green Lake; Logan Johnson, Barneveld; Tyler Ketz, Clayton; David Neis, Benton; Tyler Ritschard, Monticello; Matt Savatski, Benton; Chad Strehlow, Suring; Lee Veldkamp, Sheboygan Christian; and Kaylor Zimmerman, NEW Lutheran.
Allbaugh ran the show for North Crawford and led the Trojans to the title of the Ridge & Valley Conference. A point guard who competes with a high basketball I.Q., Allbaugh averaged a team-high 22.2 ppg for coach Gary Hines.
Brooks is a smooth forward who uses his versatility to score from a variety of spots on the floor. He averaged 17.3 ppg for a team a Lakers’ squad that won the Northern Division of the Trailways Conference and finished 24-3 in all games.
Johnson is a rugged wing player who uses his physical strength and athletic ability to cause havor in the lane for opponents. He averaged 16.9 ppg for a Barneveld team that shared the Eastern Division title of the Six Rivers Conference with Monticello and went 22-5 overall.
Ketz was the driving force for an upstart Clayton squad that entered the state tournament with a 25-1 record. The 6-0 junior guard averaged just under 20 ppg for the Bears, who won the Central Division title of the Lakeland Conference.
Neis is an extremely quick 5-10 guard who can score from downtown or off of aggressive drives to the basket. He averaged a team-best 16.5 ppg for a Benton squad that went 20-5 and won the Western Division of the Six Rivers Conference.
Ritschard was the best player on a Monticello team that surprised many by tying Barneveld for the title in the Eastern Division of the Six Rivers Conference. Ritschard averaged a team-best 15.8 ppg while leading the Ponies to a 20-4 record.
Savatski formed a solid one-two punch with Neis at Benton. The 6-2 wing player averaged 14.9 ppg and 7.0 rpg as the Zephyrs won at least 20 games for the fourth consecutive season.
Strehlow is a physically tough 6-4 forward who can score around the basket and from the foul line. He averaged a team-high 21.7 ppg for a Suring squad that won the Marinette & Oconto Conference championship.
Veldkamp is an intelligent lead guard who used his size (6-2) and strength to get into the lane and either score or find open teammates. He averaged 14.2 ppg for a Sheboygan Christian squad that shared the Central Lakeshore Conference title with arch rival Oostburg.
Zimmerman has ran the point for the Blazers leading them to their first ever WIAA state tournament appearance. He averaged 14.6 points and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 43% from three point range.
